4th Annual High-Level Meeting of the Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN)
This High-Level Meeting will highlight what a number of Governments are doing to both measure and tackle multidimensional poverty. A growing number of countries have adopted an official national multidimensional poverty index (MPI) to provide the needed information to guide new policies – for example five countries launched national MPIs since the last MPPN meeting in Colombia. Others that have not yet developed their National MPI are using the existing Global MPI to tackle poverty. The Global MPI thus not only helps to compare across countries but also provides essential information in some countries to guide policy.
The 2016 Annual Meeting of the MPPN will be hosted by the Government of Mexico, in Acapulco on 8-9 November with a set of pre-conference events on 7 November. The President of Mexico, H.E Enrique Peña Nieto, will speak at the closing of this High-Level Event, which will also include the participation of many senior officials from around the world.
