IASPD 11 - "Social Pacts for a more comprehensive Social Protection"

Date/Time:
Friday, May 23, 2014 - 10:30 to 12:00

HOW DO THE CONSENSUS EMERGE IN THE FIELD OF SOCIAL POLICY IN LATIN AMERICA?

Although democracy has ceased to be the exception in Latin America, in many cases the political feasibility of large social and fiscal agreements remains an unmet challenge. Hence the interest of ECLAC to address this issue in the framework of the "Social Pact for a more inclusive social protection," which is performed in the framework of the cooperation program ECLAC-BMZ / giz 2012-2014.

Experts Rodrigo Martínez and Carlos Maldonado ECLAC will tell us in more detail about the methodology of this project, major findings and will present three case studies on major reforms to social policies in Chile, Mexico and Uruguay that were the subject of a consensus and have been published in the series "Social Policy" of ECLAC.
