Exchanging Experiences, Expanding Opportunities

First edition of the Diploma Course on Social Protection for the Americas in its final stages

Last January, 20 students from 13 Latin American Spanish-speaking countries met in Santiago, Chile to attend the on-site phase of the Diploma Course on Social Protection for the Americas.

During two weeks, students learned and discussed tools for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of social protection programs, shared professional experiences, participated in workshops aimed at applying the tools delivered in class, and interacted with social protection practitioners from Chile, ECLAC and J-PAL (Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab) Latin America.

As a requirement to obtain the certification, students will deliver on March 30th a project aimed at introducing improvements to the program or policy they work on, combining a hands-on approach with the knowledge delivered throughout the course.
