The OAS and Commitment to Equity (CEQ) signed an agreement to tackle poverty and inequality in the region



The Organization of American States (OAS), through the Department of Social Inclusion and the Inter-American Social Protection Network (RIPSO), signed a cooperation agreement with the Centre for Commitment to Equity (CEQ), directed by Nora Lustig, where joint projects that aim to reduce poverty and inequality in the region are formalized.

The MOU will strengthen the institutional and technical capacities of the Social Development Ministries of in the region. The agreement comes in an ideal scenario considering that this year the Third Meeting of Ministers of Social Development will be held in Asuncion, Paraguay on the 13th and 14th of July.

The ceremony was attended by Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the OAS; Nora Lustig, Director of CEQ; Ludovico Feoli, Director of the Center for Inter-American Policy and Research at Tulane University; Michael Ronald Sanders, Chairman of the Permanent Council and the General Committee of the OAS (Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Antigua and Barbuda); Leonidas Rosa Bautista, Regional Coordinator of the Central American Integration System (SICA) (Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Honduras); and Elisa Ruiz Díaz, Regional Coordinator of the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) (Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Paraguay).
