Since last century there have been several studies to define what poverty is, but these answers do not help to eradicate it. The most common answer is that it is related to the lack of income. Decades ago a new definition emerged: the whole shortcomings of income, food, education, construction materials and housing services. However this definition comes from a perspective outside of poverty.
The book "Poverty in El Salvador, from the perspective of its protagonists" collects data from people living in poverty and understands that this can help eradicate it. Interviewees mostly described poverty as inaccessibility to food, steady job, education, good health standards or just have a decent life. In their words, poverty is "not knowing if there is going to be something for tomorrow."
