The Inter-American Social Protection Network (IASPN) and the Organization of American States (OAS) have offered an ideal space and the tools for countries of the region to exchange experiences and knowledge of social protection. Within this framework, the IASPN hosted last September the Third Caribbean Workshop on Social Protection and International Cooperation which took place in Bridgetown, Barbados. During this event, nine Caribbean member states requested an exchange with Jamaica to understudy their Social Protection graduation program. This was a direct follow up activity conducted in Kingston Jamaica August 20-22, 2014.
Cooperation Exchange had as its objective to strengthen the institutional capacity of national social development agencies in formulating and implementing effective and efficient policies and programs to eradicate extreme poverty, and facilitate greater cross-sectoral cooperation on social protection issues.
