The quality and efficiency of the public policies and government performance are, perhaps as never before, main factors for the democratic legitimacy and for the promotion of development in Latin America. As a consequence, the governments at a sub-national level have obtained significant importance in the incorporation of mechanisms and instruments for the monitoring and valuing of governmental activities, and as information for decision making in public policy. However, this ambit is not well known in the international space, despite it offering, at a local level, creative answers to many of the dilemmas of regional development. This book unifies the presentations by the participants of the first International Seminar on Monitoring, Evaluation and Results-based Management, and presents the effort made for the construction of a space for cooperation and for international exchanges centered on sub-national actors and dynamics.
This seminar was organized by the Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Latin America and by the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE), in collaboration with the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy and the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit.
