The Mexican Financial System (CNBV) and the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) published the results of the National Financial Inclusion Survey (ENIF 2012) whose execution was entrusted on the INEGI with help from the CNBV. Keeping in mind that financial inclusion is a public policy priority, the survey was designed to generate information about the use of financial services, which can be a useful way to identify the barriers which limit the development of a more inclusive financial system.
The CNBV presents three documents: a description of the motivation and conceptual framework to develop the ENIF 2012; a synthesis of the results; and a detailed report with descriptive result statistics. For its part, the database with the survey’s microdata, the survey, the notes on methodology and the training manuals used are all found on the INEGI webpage (http://www.inegi.org.mx).
