This blog article highlights two of ECLAC's publication on the social protection systems in Latin America: Towards universal social protection: "Latin American pathways and policy tools" published in November 2015 and "Social protection systems in Latin America and the Caribbean: a comparative view", released in November 2014.
Latin American countries are undergoing a positive transformation period, where social investments have been growing and more social protection policies and programmes have been implemented. Although programmes have not been the same in terms of size and content due to the differing national context, Cecchini argues that there have been crosscutting trends paralleled with political and economic changes.
