The OAS Department of Social Inclusion and the Executive Secretary for Integral Development met with Minister Héctor Ramón Cárdenas from the Secretaría de Acción Social (SAS - Secretariat for Social Affairs) to discuss the social development agenda. 

 

In the wake of the Los Angeles riots more than 20 years ago, Congress created an anti-poverty experiment called Moving to Opportunity. It gave vouchers to help poor families move to better neighborhoods and awarded them on a random basis, so researchers could study the effects.

African descendants and indigenous peoples in Latin America face higher poverty rates and are disproportionately represented among the poor.
