The new edition of Social Panorama of Latin America by the Economic Commission of Latin America and the Caribbean addresses the issue of social inequality, seen as a fundamental challenge and obstacle to sustainable development.

We cordially invite the Ministries and High Authorities of Social Development to present applications in the category of Innovation in Social Inclusion in the V Edition of the Inter-American Award on Innovation for Effective Public Management-PIGEP (for its acronym in Spanish) Edition of 2017.

Graduation Workshop and Field Visit

The Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP), Trickle Up and Fundación Capital, in partnership with PROSPERA Programa de Inclusión Social, and with the support of the Ford Foundation and the International Development Research Center (IDRC), are jointly convening an invitation-only Graduation Field Visit and Workshop on June 13-14, 2017 to share the progress of the Mexican Graduation Pilot and exchange lessons learnt and future plans related to the adaptation of the Graduation model to public policy in Latin America.

The objective of this Seminar is to launch an OAS publication on equity and social inclusion from a rights-based perspective. It is aimed at experts, researchers and professionals in government institutions, civil society organizations and groups, international organizations, and cooperation agencies. During this Seminar, some of the authors of the publication will discuss their articles.

Conversation with OECD Secretary General: Inclusive growth in cities

While economic growth has been driven mostly by cities and metropolitan areas, inequality has been on the rise. In response to this phenomenon, the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) is beginning an initiative to increase awareness. Hosted by the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings and the National League of Cities Institute, the event offers an opportunity for a conversation with OECD Secretary-General Ángel Gurría and other panelists.
